Tell us about your career journey.

I am a serial social entrepreneur driven to support others to realize their dreams while making Canada the best country in the world to start a grow a business. My career began in politics and has zigged and zagged to non-profits like Amnesty International and the United Nations Association of Canada to government and the private sector. I completed my Masters at Oxford in the UK in global governance and diplomacy and there, found my calling as an entrepreneur. Today, I am the co-founder and President of Startup Canada, supporting Canada’s 2.3 million entrepreneurs, a lobbyist, and sit on many boards. From writing my first book and beginning to invest in early-stage companies to diving deep into the world of artificial intelligence, I love technology, foresight policy, and entrepreneurship.

Tell us about your personal style and how it has evolved over your career.

I have always had a consistent style - simplicity, elegance, and strength.

What's the best style advice you've ever received? What's the most important piece of style advice you would offer young businesswomen?

Best style advice is to style your fashion to your body type and to feel comfortable in your clothes, so you let your confidence shine. And, of course, smile.

What items of clothing or ‘looks’ make you feel the most powerful and like your most authentic self?

I love wearing black high heels, slim jeans, a black turtleneck and blazer with manicured nails and straightened hair. A relaxed dress with crisp lines is also a staple.

What do you love most about the Grayes brand?

As someone who champions entrepreneurs in Canada, I love that the Grayes brand is Canadian made, locally owned, high quality, professional, elegant, and impact-driven.

What is your philosophy when it comes to your wardrobe, and particularly your work wardrobe?

I take a 'Mark Zuckerberg' or 'Steve Jobs' approach to a style. I keep it simple unless otherwise required.  Simplicity helps me to focus on building my business. The pieces that I am quality, Canadian and 'me'.

Clothes that

inspire confidence.
